はじめまして。わたしのなまえは ナットです。コロンビアだいがくのだいがくよねんせいです。タイのバンコクから きました。にじゅういっさいです。

I am studying Japanese because I love Japanese culture. I love their food, their history, their literature, and especially their anime and manga, and the best way to enjoy their culture is to experience it through their language, since many parts of their culture is not easily accessible to the Western world. I am looking forward to speaking Japanese, so I can communicate with people when I go to Japan without being all awkward. I am also excited about being able to read Japanese (especially Kanji, even though I know it's annoyingly difficult) so that I can do things like read manga in the original language. Despite my eagerness to learn the language, I still found myself struggling to memorize all the new vocabulary presented in the first few weeks of class. I also struggled with the Japanese sentence structure, especially in how the subject is frequently omitted, as well as how the word "you" is basically never used.
